Multi-purpose mechanical linkage with translatory drive unit for industrial robot facilitates use of the same type of drive in a wide variety of arrangements
A mechanical arrangement moves and positions an object within a given space using an articulated linkage. The object is linked and moves with respect to a base. The movement is effected by a motor drive with a translatory action on the object. The drive unit forms an additional link between the object and the base. The object is moved solely by means of the translational drive action. The articulated linkage is passive and serves only to retain the object in the selected position.
