The method involves storing data in a data station at the start of use and computing the charge for the use after the use process has finished. At the start of use a value transponder, that contains an individual identity number and a defined chargeable amount of money, is connected to a read/write station. The identity number and the data and time of the start of use are stored in the data station. A deposit amount is locked by the data station. After the use has finished the transponder is connected to the data station again, the amount computed by the data station is debited and the locking of the deposit amount is released. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for implementing the method.
