The cylinder head gasket for a motor vehicle internal combustion engine has an inner layer (15) and upper (14) and lower (16) cover layers. The cover layer has an indentation (18) adjacent to the cylinder bore opening. To control the deformation of the outer layers, stoppers (22,24) are provided.
