Carbon-free cobalt alloy containing chromium, molybdenum, silicon, nitrogen and group Vb elements, is used for dental prostheses. A carbon-free Co alloy contains (by wt.) 25-35% Cr, 4-11% Mo, 0.5-2.1% Si, 0.2-0.5% N, 0.5-3.0% one or more group Vb elements, balance Co and impurities. Preferred Features: The alloy contains 0.5-1.7% Si, 0.2-0.45% N, 4-9% Mo and 0.5-1.7% group Vb element(s), especially Ta. The casting temperature is 1520-1560 deg C.
