The controller has a transmitter-receiver unit in the vehicle and a mobile identification or ID transmitter (6). The transmitter-receiver unit has two different transmitter modules (2,3) for sending a signal to a LF radio path and a receiver unit for receiving a response signal transmitted by the ID transmitter, which contains a receiver part. Both the vehicle transmitter sending the signal and the antenna unit in the ID transmitter have two mutually orthogonal antenna coils (A1,A2,A3;B1,B2) driven differently wrt. at least one transmission parameter so that the spatial vectorial superimposition of the fields changes continuously.
