In the construction chamber (3) for laser sintering, a replaceable container (12) can be inserted. This forms a boundary framing the material (9). A workpiece platform (8) integrated into the container is supported by and optionally fastened to a carrier, during operation. Preferred features: The workpiece platform is height-adjustable within the boundary. It is integrated into the container base. The equipment as a whole, is a laser sintering machine especially suitable for plastic. The construction chamber (3) is integrated into the machine casing. An optical system (5) located inside the construction chamber, provides output from the sintering laser. A material feeder and a covering unit (10) are provided. Powdered sintering material (9) is delivered from a supply container into the processing region of the workpiece platform (8). Platform and container sidewalls rest in a lower reception position. The equipment is considerably further detailed, salient features including further details of the container, workpiece support and mountings. An optionally-steel roller blind dust seal is included. Further variation based on the foregoing principles is described.
