Fly ash collected in a hopper (1) falls by gravity to a disposal point (5) where water is added through a line (10). The mixture is then dropped onto a belt conveyor (11) that is progressively deformed into a tube so that the mixture tumbles towards the center of the belt for a more thorough mixing. The length of the belt then determines the secondary mixing time.
