The object identification device uses a semiconductor chip (15) which cannot be removed from the object without destroying its function, coupled to an antenna (17) for entering identification data for the object provided by an external terminal via telemetry and for supplying the stored data upon interrogation. The object is provided with an interlocking sliding fastener, with the semiconductor chip incorporated in the latter, the antenna loop and an identification loop (16) for coupling the chip with the object closed upon closure of the fastener, e.g. via the metallic fastener elements (5,6).
