The bodywork bearer (1) consists of a hollow strip body with at least one fixing device (2-6) for connecting to another bodywork component. The fixing device is produced directly during the manufacture of the bearer by means of internal high-pressure deformation process by which the bearer is made. The fixing device may be in the form of a flange for attachment to a longitudinal bearer or bumper (fender).
