The seal is for breathing protection masks, escape and life-saving apparatus and involves a mask body (1) in which a trough (2) is formed. In the trough, an exchangeable seal and matching frame (3) of solid gel material is positively engaged. The mask body has a hardness of more than or equal to 50 ShA and the sealing and matching frame of less than 10 ShA.
