The safety cut-out method has switch elements (2,3,4,5) responding to different conditions, combined to provide a safety chain (6), the safety fault signals fed to a pre-control device (12,13) together with drive monitoring signals, provided by a redundant drive monitoring circuit (10,11), to provide cut-out signals for the drive cut-out contacts (20,21). An Independent claim for a safety circuit for an escalator or moving walkway is also included.
