Gas detector for trace quantities of dioxins and furans in municipal incineration captures and desorbs traces to a co-located detector

An assembly (100) for detecting trace tiny concentrations of a given molecule within a sample gas has an inlet (122) arm to a chamber (310) holding a detector (134) sensitive to the molecule in question. The chamber (310) is closed off during the detection process. The molecule capture unit has an absorption surface (144) which is especially PTFE. From time to time, the chamber is closed, evacuated and the molecules gathered are desorbed in the immediate vicinity of a gas detector, co-located in the chamber (310) inlet.
