Process for removing carbon dioxide from i.c. (internal combustion) engine exhaust gas comprises: (a) reacting carbon dioxide with water vapor using the energy in the exhaust gas stream and a catalyst to form hydrocarbon and oxygen; (b) removing the hydrocarbon and (c) feeding to the i.c. engine for combustion.
