Production of a high power laser beam comprises superimposing a first linear polarized beam (1) of a CO2 laser with a second beam (2) polarized orthogonal to the first beam to obtain a laser beam (3) polarized in both fluctuation positions by polarization coupling. The second laser beam is directed onto a window (4) with consideration to the Brewster angle so that the first beam is transmitted through it and is completely reflected on its surface. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus for carrying out the production of the laser beam.
