The assembly to transfer a moving web (1) between two belts (2,3) has guide rollers (5,6) where the belts (2,3) pass round them partially at the transfer zone (4). The incoming belt (2) which brings in the web (1) passes round its guide roller (5) before the transfer, and the pick-up belt (3) passes round its guide roller (6) after the transfer of the web. The web (1) is passed to the pick-up belt (3) as the incoming belt (2) is detached from its guide roller (5), or max. 3 cm after belt/roller separation. The pick-up belt (3) passes partially round its guide roller (6) before the web (1) is transferred to it. During web (1) transfer, the pick-up belt (3) runs at a tangent to its guide roller (6). The pick-up belt (3) path is partially round the guide roller (5) for the incoming belt (2), before the web transfer. The neutral fibers (7) at the pick-up belt (3), are further away from the side in contact with the web (1) than the other side. The incoming belt (2) is thicker than the pick-up belt (3). The incoming belt (2) has a hydrophobic surface, and the belt is at a different temp. from the pick-up belt (3). The guide roller (5) for the incoming belt (2) has a smaller radius than the guide roller (6) for the pick-up belt (3), at = 800 mm. At least the guide roller (6) for the pick-up belt (3) is on a rotating mounting, and the guide roller (5) for the incoming belt (2) can be a guide rod. At least one guide roller (5) is pressed against the other guide roller (6). At least one of the belts (2,3) is a blanket, fourdrinier or a water-impermeable belt. The two belts (2,3) can be of the same or different design.
