Fabrication process for armature of valve actuator for IC engines produces valve lifter of carbon steel alloy and press-fit armature connected to it by electron-beam welding

The valve has a valve lifter (2) connected to a separate armature (1) of a soft-magnetic iron material. The lifter is of carbon steel alloy with C = 0,45%. It has guide section (3) of pre-finished dimensions with a diameter D1, and a collar (4) with a diameter D2 approximately equal 1,2 * D1. An armature with finished dimensioned is press-fitted to the collar and positively connected to it by electron-beam welding. The guide section is then finished to final dimensions D0 with wear-proof surface.
