Diamond-containing composite material for grinding, drilling and cutting tools and wear resistant components is produced by sintering or melt infiltration in the presence of atomic hydrogen
Diamond-containing composite material for grinding, drilling and cutting tools and wear resistant components is produced by sintering or melt infiltration in the presence of atomic hydrogen
Diamond-containing composite material production involves sintering or melt infiltration in the presence of atomic hydrogen. Diamond-containing composite materials are produced by sintering or melt infiltration at below 200 MPa and above 1000 deg C in the presence of atomic hydrogen. An Independent claim is also included for a sintered or melt infiltrated diamond-containing composite material produced by the above process. Preferred Features: The diamond-containing composite material is compacted by plasma-activated sintering, the hydrogen being present in the plasma gas or as a solid or liquid, thermally decomposable or volatile compound in the material.
