Electromagnetic-radiation tissue diagnosis, comprises using a measurement head including optical fibers and a dielectric probe to contact the tissue. Optical, and/or HF signals on co-ax, are supplied, returning as tissue responses. They are exchanged through a path between sources and detectors. Evaluation and diagnostic classification are carried out automatically. An Independent claim is included for equipment for carrying out the novel method.
