The identification band (1) has 2 open ends which are coupled together via a non-releasable closure, both the identification band and the closure made of a fire-resistant material, with fire-resistant identification markings (5) provided in the band material and decoded via an identification key held in a separate databank. An Independent claim for a passenger identification method is also included.
