The conveyor to give a positive fit while holding a conveyor belt, permeable to fluid and gas, uses a conveyor belt (1) which has a surface structure with lateral rods (2). The rod ends (18) project from the belt surface structure on both sides, to be keyed to the drive system (3). Preferred Features: The surface structure of the conveyor belt (1) is a closed net or grid, formed by a woven or knitted belt of a textile or non-textile material. The conveyor belt (1) has additional longitudinal and/or lateral reinforcements. The belt (1) is strengthened by a chemical coating on one or both sides. The rods (2) can be at variable intervals in the conveyor belt (1) structure. The rods (2) are of different materials such as metal or plastics, as solid rods or tubes, and with different shapes and cross sections. The rods (2) have recesses and/or corrugations between the bonding points with the belt surface structure. The ends (18) of the rods (2) can have additional guides, and they are fitted into rod holders at the periphery of the drive and deflection disks (3,5). Or the ends (18) of the rods (2) fit into holders at a recirculating and continuous carrier in the form of a roller chain or toothed belt powered by a drive system.
