A device for analyzing a multiple component exhaust gas has a number of sample containers (1, 2, 3), an analyzer, and interconnecting valves and pipework. The sample containers are housed within a gas-tight chamber (16) which is maintained at reduced pressure by a pump (18). An Independent claim is also included for a procedure in which the chamber (16), holding the sample containers, is maintained under a constant level of reduced pressure.
