The temperature distribution detection device uses an IR detector (3), e.g. an IR video camera, positioned on the outside of a window element (2) in the housing of the gas turbine allowing passage or IR radiation. The detector signals are fed to a recording device (6), e.g. a video recorder, coupled to a signal processor (7), for output in the form of a temperature distribution. An Independent claim for a temperature distribution detection method is also included.
