The spring tensioner acts via a threaded spindle to press the spring together or relieve it. The threaded spindle (11) is fixed to the free end of the piston rod (2). An insertion key is fitted on the nut (8) on the piston rod side. This key has a hexagon (20) on it. It lies against a resting nut (22) on the spindle. The key with the nut can be displaced via the resting nut along the spindle to act on the coil spring.
