L-section inner and outer half-shells(60,61) are manufacture which when joined together can form a profile(69) with a rectangular cross section. Bevelling takes place of the connecting flanges(66) on the end sections of the members(64,65) of the half shells. Bevelling of both half-shells perpendicularly to their longitudinal extent takes place so that the profile with rectangular cross section has a V-form centre section(68). The half shells are then connected along the flanges, and the front longitudinal member(8) connected to the profile(69) in the region of the V-form angle. An Independent claim is included for a motor vehicle's structure which the inner and/or outer half-shell of the rectangular profile has at least one member(62,63) extending beyond the cross section of the profile and which continues the vehicle's structure and/or serves as a mounting for additional components.
