The piston (1) is deformed in the solid or plastic state, without appreciable exceeding of the solidus line of the material to be deformed, so that no phases, or only the low-melting-point ones, which take little part in the material to be deformed, pass into the liquid state during the deformation. The deformed structure, when ground, reveals laminations.
