The device has at least one spiral spring(22) fitted to the tarpaulin in its stretched state along its length. The tarpaulin is held by fixing its edges in a state covering the surface, and with at least partial release of the edges rolls up together with the spring on account of the spring's elasticity. The spiral spring is connected to an air-pressurized hose(20) extending along its length, and when pressurized carries along the spring with it to assume an extended state, and when non-pressurized is rolled up together with the tarpaulin and spring.
