The mortise lock has a bolt (1) and catch bolt (2) pulled back by operating a release mechanism (3). The bolt is operated after the catch bolt has been displaced. The bolt is released by means of a catch lever (4) which is displaced from its locking position. The lever has a slide piece (5). The catch bolt forms a recess into which fits a cam (7) belonging to the locking lever.
