A program-controlled dish-washing machine has a fresh water connection and selectable rinsing programmes which comprise at least the programme sections cleaning (main rinsing) and clear rinsing (after-rinsing), a container in the rinsing machine for accommodating reusable rinsing fluid plus a circulating pump connected after the container for supplying and acting upon spray devices. There is a lye pump assigned to the container to take away used rinsing fluid from the apparatus. The dish-washing machine (1) is designed as a combination apparatus for a selectable operation as a tank rinsing machine with a multiple use of preheated rinsing fluid (4) from the container (2) for several separate rinsing programmes or as a fresh water rinsing machine (20) for each water-carrying programme section of a rinsing programme. Where applicable, the rinsing fluid employed in the closing after-rinse or clear-rinse step is stored temporarily for one-time reuse in a subsequent new rinsing programme.
