The method involves using a thermal test body or test device with a controllable thermal source. The temperature of the test body or test tip (1) is measured during its contact with the tooth over a period of time and is stored. The variation of the temperature is evaluated to determine the vitality of the tooth. An Independent claim is also included for device for testing tooth vitality.
