The storage space (4) is incorporated in the cladding for the roof of the automobile passenger space and closed by a hinged cover (6) which pivots about a longitudnal axis. A spring-loaded inner cover (7) is held against the inside of the hinged cover, for clamping the stored item (16) and displaced by the opening movement of the hinged cover to bring the item into an accessible position.
