Solid solution particles in a thermoplastic plastic matrix with embedded soft magnetic alloy particles are new. Solid solution particles in a thermoplastic plastic matrix have embedded soft magnetic alloy particles of formula: (Fe1-aMa)100-x-y-zCuxSiyBzM' alpha where M = cobalt and/or nickel and M is at least one of Nb, W, Ta, zr, Hf, or Mo, where a, x, y, z, and alpha obey the condition: and 0.1 = a = 0.5, 0.1 = x = 3, 0 = y = 30, 0 = z = 25, 5 = y+z = 30, 0.1 = alpha = 30 and at least 50% of the alloy particles have a nanocrystalline structure.
