A movable arcing contact (3) is formed as a waveguide tube (4) with lateral threads (6) acting as a magnetic coil to produce an axial magnetic field which acts, with a force (Fa), on a ferromagnetic core (9) arranged in a contact pin (7) of the movable arcing contact. A fixed arcing contact (1) is also formed as a waveguide tube with lateral threads directed opposite to the threads of the movable contact wave guide, to produce a magnetic force directed opposite to the force produced by the movable contact waveguide.
