A conversion for an alphorn enables the instrument to be played with many more tones in additional to the fundamental tunes of the instrument. A modular unit comprising a set of valves and associated pipe loops etc. is fitted between the alphorn and the mouthpiece. The conversion is played like a brass instrument and covers tones and half tones in all octaves.
