The oil lubrication device for the towing cable (3) involves the cable being fed close to the ground between upper and lower rollers (1,4) located in a frame (2). Each roller has a concave running surface profile (7) which engages around the cable periphery. The pairs of upper and lower rollers guide the cable and are arranged opposite to one another on a vertical frame. One or more nozzles (6) are arranged above the upper roller in each pair for dispensing oil coming from a storage container onto the upper cable roller (1). The opening of the nozzles is controlled by a valve (5). A sensor probes the lubrication state of the cable and controls the opening of the valve via a computer.
