The assembly to extract water from a wet fiber web (1) has at least two long-gap presses with at least one continuous and porous blanket (2,3) passing through both press gaps (4,5) each formed by two press rollers (6-9). The water-extraction blanket (3) for the second long-gap press passes round a preceding roller (10) to be pressed with the web (1) against the press roller (9) forming the second press gap (5). The web (1) has an unsupported path between the smooth press roller (7) at the first long-gap press and the blanket/web guide roller (10). The blanket (3) for the second press gap (5) presses the fiber web (1) against the smooth press roller (9). The web (1) passes round the guide roller (10) before pressure is applied to it. The fiber web (1) passes at a tangent into the gap between the guide roller (10) and the smooth press roller (9). The guide roller (10) is a suction roller.
