A process for the production of concentrates for aqueous varnish, paints or coatings, especially overprint varnish for coating cardboard packaging, involves mixing an aqueous resin dispersion (10) with a resin (11) and a neutralizing agent (12) by the action of shearing forces in a mixer. Independent claims are also included for (a) a concentrate made by the above process; (b) a process for the production of aqueous varnish, paints or coatings by diluting this concentrate with a diluent, especially water.
