Method of producing color pictures from digitally available image, using simple, low-cost and environmentally friendly material

The color picture or hologram is produced from a digitally available image. On a material with permanently embossable surface are embossed points with a max. dia. of 1000 microns, comprising a pattern of parallel lines with spacing between 100 and 2000 nm, dependent on the color to be produced. The points to be embossed are applied individually and sequentially. The points are applied by needle printers whose tips contain the required line pattern. The embossing depth is 200 to 2000 microns. Polymers or polymer coated materials are used for embossing.
