The system has an electric machine (32) driven by a drive arrangement to exert a counteracting torque on a rotating unit (14) with a deflection weight arrangement (38) with at least one weight (78) and an associated deflection path (74) with an apex region (80) at the point of greatest radial distance of the deflection path from the rotation axis (A) of the rotating assembly. An Independent claim is also included for a vibration damping method.
