The load marks (4) are located on the ship's (3) hull. In the ship's vicinity at a distance of the load marks fitted a land-bound, vertically adjustable, on the water level dependent laser (21), projecting a readable measuring mark (24) onto the load marks. The laser is self-adjustable in the horizontal via a leveling device. A tube (10) houses a buoyant body which holds the laser constantly at a vertical spacing above the water level. The buoyant body is mostly immersed in water, protruding above it with a small part only.
