Process for dewatering solid fuel comprises heating the fuel to 60-200 deg C and dewatering by feeding to a centrifuge, whose working chamber is placed under pressure and removing water in the fuel by centrifuging. Preferred Features: The fuel is directly heated by introducing hot water and/or water vapor and feeding as fuel slurry to the centrifuge. The working chamber of the centrifuge is indirectly heated. The centrifuge operates with a continuous solid charge.
