A process for the continuous production of an aqueous solution of a urea-formaldehyde-precondensate (I) from formaldehyde, urea and water in an at least 4-stage reactor is claimed. A process for the continuous production of an aqueous solution of a urea-formaldehyde-precondensate (I) from formaldehyde, urea and water in an at least 4-stage reactor is claimed. The starting materials are continuously fed to the first reactor at the same rate at which the reaction mixture formed is removed and fed to the next reactor in the series. In the last reactor the aqueous solution of (I) is continuously removed at the same rate at which the reaction mixture is continuously supplied from the penultimate reactor.
