Steel strip beaters (5) are mounted on a horizontal shaft (9) so that they are spirally displaced against each other from the inlet (1) end to the outlet (10) end. The beaters are of gradually increasing diameter and work against impact plates (7) and guide fingers (15). Waste is removed through a bottom grid (6) and air is removed through suction ports (4).
