The carburettor (1) has a suction channel section (4) in a casing (3), in which a throttle valve (6) is hinged to a shaft (7). Fuel channels (8,9) open into the suction channel section from a fuel-filled control chamber (10), which is formed on a long side of the suction channel section and separated from a compensation space (12) by a control membrane (11). An air channel (15) is formed from a functional part (18) of the carburettor, which is fixed in the casing and has a throttle organ (14) rotating on a shaft (24), which is coupled to adjust the position of the throttle valve. The functional component is fixed on a long side of the suction channel section. The air channel runs parallel to the suction channel section from the end (20) of the carburettor facing an air filter (16) to a connection end face (21) facing the combustion motor. The shaft of the throttle organ and the shaft of the throttle valve are coupled by a gear connection.
