The invention relates to a method for preparing organyl chlorosilanes of the general formula R4-cSiXc (1) by reacting hydrogen halide with silanes of the general formula R4-a-bSiHaXb (2), wherein R, X, c, a and b have the meaning cited in claim 1, in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst.
