In measuring the density of articles, the liquid used: (a) has a density less than 1, (b) has almost the same density at different temperatures, (c) is less volatile than water, with a vapor pressure a factor of at least 2 lower, and (d) has a water absorption (hygroscopicity) less than 1%.
