The setting change mechanism for the slats of a blind, where the slats can be gathered, has a roller (12) with a peripheral wedge groove (18) expanding radially outwards. A ring segment (20) with matching wedge surfaces (22) rides in the groove (18), linked to a draw cord (24). The weight of the hanging blind is sufficient to give a friction contact to transmit the operating forces. The draw cord (24) is a single cord at one side, which passes round the ring segment (20) and the blind winding shaft at least in the setting zone of the ring segment (20), and is laid at the ring segment (20) in the pull direction. The draw cord (24) is secured to one end of the slats, and the other slat ends are held in non-adjustable carriers.
