The sub-frame (1) has four clamping cups (6), arranged at the corners of a rectangular framework. It has transverse frame elements (2) the first of which may be of a curved flattened box section and incorporates longitudinal frame elements (3) at its ends. The second of the transverse frame elements is tubular, with the two junction points (4) plugged into its ends. The junction points hold two of the clamping cups. The center portion of the second transverse frame element carries a bearing block (7). The junction points are joined to the longitudinal frame elements to complete curved members running between the clamping cups on each side.
