The device consists of an extensible cross-beam (3) made from aluminium or steel. The device can be fitted to a shaft (1) with a grip (2), preferably a golf club, to form a T-shaped unit. It is held in place between the shaft and the head (6) of the club by a clamp (4), snap, or screw fitting or by a magnet. The cross-beam may be telescopic or may have several hinge joints, so that it may be folded together. During the search, the cross-beam is held as closely parallel as possible to the ground and then swept over the grass at a height of 10-20 cm, rendering golf balls easily visible to the user.
