The aim of the invention is to create an economical metallic shell component with integrated reinforcing profiles which presents not only the required stiffness but also the required crack-propagation and residual-strength characteristics. To this end the invention provides for the reinforcing profiles (2) to have a thickened area (4) in the region of their base which area has a thickness (f); for the thickened area (4) to have a reduced joint thickness (a) in the region of the joint area (3); and for the ratio of base thickness (f) to joint thickness (a) to be greater/equal to 2. The invention is suitable for use in a metallic shell component consisting of a skin plate and reinforcing profiles.
