The radio transmitter has a first source (1) for a first HF signal, a first antenna (3a) directly connected to the first source and at least one second antenna (3b) connected to the first source via a controllable phase delay element (2,4-10). The phase delay element contains a second source (2) for a HF signal supplied to the second antenna and a control loop (4-10) for continuous adjustment of a phase delay between the sources to a demand value. Independent claim is also included for a distance measurement device.
